What is family? Where did the idea of family come from?
I would argue that God created the first family, which began with Adam and Eve when Adam knew his wife, Eve, and she bore him a son. Genesis states that the animals came off the ark with their families (Genesis 8), which means that the two had babies coming off the ark. Apparently, a family is defined as including children or offspring, according to the Bible. This is interesting since not all couples have children. There is the nuclear family and the extended family as we know it today. Many people call family anyone they are close to or live with for an extended time, but for this piece, please understand that the original family consisted of a mother, a father, and a child. Genesis tells us about the first two children born to the first man and woman; husband and wife. One man and one woman had two children who were then called brothers. The brothers shared the same mother and father. This was the first family.
